The owner of the Toffee Club, Niki Diamond, graciously let me take portraits in her pub featuring fans of the beautiful game during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Toffee Club in Portland, OR as seen at sunrise AFTER they had already opened to the footy community for the earliest of early games kicking off at 4am at the beginning of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Aimee works at The Toffee Club and is a huge fan of footy. I might have seen her nearly cry when Argentina lost at the end but I know I saw her proud soon after to rep her Spanish kit.
Cam was at The Toffee Club for an afternoon of footy with some friends. Her kit of choice is Rose City Red for the Portland Thorns who are well represented across multiple nations at the WWC.
I found Chelsea Waddell and her Aussie National jersey after the epic comeback vs Brazil earlier in the day.
This is the second portrait I made of Joyelle (the other being on film yet developed). She is fairly new to the game but is happy to be a part of the crew gathering to root their team.
Madison Shanley is well known around Portland as one of (formerly) the best anthem singers before the Timbers and Thorns games at Providence Park. Also, a big USWNT fan!
There was a large and vibrant, very happy Peruvian National Team supporters group, La Blanquirroja-PDX, at Away Days Pub this afternoon after the WWC matches.
I did not get this gentleman’s name but he was quite happy to pose for me and show me his snare. I hope to meet him and his group again.

Nikki Diamond, owner of The Toffee Club, is graciously allowing me to make mostly impromptu portraits of football (soccer) fans during the FIFA Women’s World Cup at her pub. As the tournament progresses I will change styles all the while using black and white film and mostly color digital. There will be casual portraits, shots of the pub and crowds and more.
